Dump Truck Gets Wedged in Overpass on WI Interstate

Dump Truck Hits WI Overpass

On June 15, 2015 at about 1:59 a.m., the WI State Patrol was notified that a dump truck traveling eastbound on I-94 struck the CTH BB overpass.

State Patrol Troopers and St. Croix Co. Deputies responded to the crash.

Susan Blank from Hudson, WI was operating a dump truck owned by Monarch Paving.

She was traveling eastbound on I-94 in the right lane when the box of the dump
truck struck the overpass.

Ms. Blank thought the box was fully lowered onto the truck body, but the
box was still raised some as she attempted to travel under the overpass.

The dump Truck box caused damage to the underside of the bridge and debris from the bridge fell onto the eastbound lanes of I-94.

During the crash the dump truck box became wedged vertically between the roadway pavement and the underside of the overpass.

The truck body itself separated from the box during the crash, and the truck body traveled into the median and rolled onto its side.

Ms. Blank was wearing her seat belt and was not injured.

The CTH BB overpass has been shut down to prevent vehicles from traveling on it.

A bridge inspector is on scene to evaluate the integrity and safety of the CTH BB overpass.

Debris was removed from the left eastbound traffic lane which was initially open for through traffic.

The crash remains under investigation by the WI State Patrol.
