City Officials say utility work is necessary in downtown Duluth, and that work could mean the removal of the city’s brick streets.
The bricks will have to be removed for the utilities to be accessed.
Once that work is completed, the entire street surface may change.
The city is currently working on plans for a redevelopment of Superior St. that could include additional parking and removal of the dedicated bike lane.
A public hearing is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 23 at the Radisson Hotel downtown.
The hearing will give the public an opportunity to view and weigh in on the city’s preferred plan for the street.
At this point, it does not appear construction will begin until 2016 or 2017.
