County officials have demolished a vacant restaurant after it was forfeited due to non-payment of taxes.
The Two Harbors Hardee’s on 4th Street was closed in 2004 and sat empty for years before the county started demolitions earlier this month.
Lake County decided to demolish the structure and and clear the lot before putting the commercial parcel up for auction later this year.
Because the old building had been damaged by years of neglect and suffered major water damage complete demolition was the county’s best option.
Demolition costs are close to $30,000 so the bidding will open at around $32,000 when the property goes on the auction block in October.
