“Anything that you need you can probably find here,” North Land Wheels Chapter Studebaker Drivers Club vice president Jim Van Dell said.
From industrial equipment to old car parts.
“It’s people getting the opportunity to buy other peoples not so precious goods anymore,” said Van Dell.
Everything was up for grabs at the 44th annual Swap Meet and Car Show on Proctor’s fairgrounds.
“Last year at a different swap meet we found a tinman so I was looking for one of those,” said Schultz.
For those not so into the secondhand goods dozens of indoor and outdoor vendors sold more niche items.
Eight –year-old Allison Hagenah dished out fresh lemonade from her stand.
“Otherwise there’s no other lemonade stand and people would go very thirsty and get sad,” said Hagenah.
On the north side of the fairgrounds were 31 classes of automotive history.
“Everything from little mg to hot rods and classic cars,” said Van Dell.
Brand new and old school.
“Hard tops and convertibles and street rods, trucks, toys and rat rods,” said Van Dell.
Sixty-five trophies were awarded to the most impressive rides.
In each of the 31 categories there’s a first and second place,” said Van Dell.
“Something to do on a Sunday Afternoon,” said Daniel Schultz.
As entertaining as the Swap Meet and Car Show may be, the event raises money for the North Land Wheels Chapter Studebaker Drivers Club.
“One show funds the next show and along with that we contribute to nonprofit organizations,” said Van Dell.
Hopefully the show will go on for decades to come.
“We just have to keep doing this until we get it right,” said Van Dell.
