Marshall School will be restoring the former Cathedral School dormitory area to its original purpose.

Marshall will be renovating the section before the fall semester to create a 32 room dormitory facility.

As it stands now, the area currently houses several local businesses.

International Programs Director Christa Knudsen says the on-campus residence will help Marshall expand it’s international program by giving students from various cultures another living arrangement opportunity.

Currently students only have the option of living with a Duluth family during their high school experience.

School Director Kevin Breen said Marshall’s international students are anxious to have the complete American high school experience.

Breen believes having an on-campus residence hall will allow those students to participate in after school activities they might not otherwise have been able to be a part of.

Breen said there will be a full-time employee who resides in the facility as a Residence Supervisor.

The dormitory will also be open to domestic students during visiting hours allowing them to interact with the international students.

Marshall believes this type of interaction will help prepare their students to compete in a more global economy.
