Over at the Food for thought restaurant at Duluth East you can get a fine dining experience

But it isn’t like every other restaurant.

Food for Thought Is the only student operated restaurant in Duluth.

All table service and culinary preparations are provided by high school students.

The restaurant opened its doors for the first time this week.

For many of the students the classes may one day lead them to their career.

Their instructor says learning is more than just hitting the books.

“What i feel is even more important is that there job ready when they leave here. That they can leave this program and be able to go on any line in any restaurant in duluth,” said Glenn D’Amour, Culinary Arts Instructor.

Some students say they already know this is where they belong.

“i just like the energy of being in the kitchen it’s really hot and fast and it’s exciting. I couldn’t really sit down and be in an office job,” said Senior Joel Dermer.

If you’re interested in trying it out food for thought only accepts reservations 24 hours before your visit because your order becomes the lesson plan for the next day.

The reservation line is 218-336-8845 Extension 4055.
