The Superior School District is facing a Title IX complaint.

Title IX prohibits discrimination based on gender in any federally funded education program or activity.

“Most often Title IX complaints are made in regards to athletic events,” said Kyle Torvinen, the attorney for the Superior School District.

The Superior School District was informed about the complaint in October

“The OCR when they receive a complaint they’re duty bound to investigate it, and as a matter of confidentiality, they don’t tell us what it’s about,” said Torvinen.

The Office of Civil Rights recently finished interviews with athletes and coaches to investigate the issue.

But the school feels confident in their gender equity programs, and the complaint came as a surprise

“Certainly we’re willing to listen to what OCR has to say as the result of the interviews.”

The OCR Representatives have informed the School District that the Time frame for the results of the interviews would be around January.
