Police Officers Sit Down For Story Time

The Duluth Public Library and Duluth Police Department have paired up for a program that’s giving kids a chance to hang out with the cops in a fun way.

For a little over a year, Squad Car Story Time has been happening every other Wednesday at the downtown library branch.

Every other week, an officer comes in wearing his or her full uniform to read a couple of books to kids. This is not only beneficial for the kids, but the cops too.

“Sometimes kids experience police officers in a stressful situation so it’s really good for them to also experience the positive things that police officers do in the community,” said Kristy Proctor, who runs the program.

Sometimes the kids don’t feel like listening to a book, and in that case, the officers are open to a little play time.
