Vatican Names New Superior Bishop

James Powers Named Bishop

After going more than a year without a bishop, the diocese of superior is now complete.

James Powers got the call last week he’s been appointed by Pope Francis as the 11th bishop of the Diocese.

The promotion comes as a surprise for Powers who was most recently serving as the diocese administrator  on a transitional basis.

“There’s a lot of mixed emotion and excitement and getting on with the life of the Diocese here,” said Powers. 

Powers will be ordained February 18.
