Sharla Gardner Announces A Senate Run

Former Duluth city councilor Sharla Gardner announced Wednesday she’s campaigning for Minnesota Senate Dist. 7 seat.

The eight-year veteran of the Duluth City Council — and 2011 Council President — champions Duluth’s recent gain of female politicians.  

“Women are like tea bags. You never know their strength until they get into hot water,” Gardner said. 

Minnesota’s Dist. 7 seat is currently held by Roger Reinert, who will not be running for another term. 

Gardner says her campaign stems from a promise she made to her father.

“He told me to never forget where I came from and to always stand–up for the little guy — and I promise to do that,” Gardner said.
