Program Connects Homeless to Govt., Health Services

It might be easy for you to access healthcare, child care, and other basic services.

But it’s a completely different story for people who are homeless in the Twin Ports.

An event was held Friday to connect those struggling with homelessness to services they may need.

Community Connect is a one-day event designed to help those in need with housing and healthcare, among other services.

Those who attended the event had access to free haircuts, foot care, flu shots and outdoor survival gear.

Community Connect takes place twice a year.

” The first time it happens we do all the service providers housing, voting registration ids, and then this one is a smaller one so we still provide winter gear and jackets, boots and stuff to keep people warm,” said Daryl Olson, Program Coordinator.

The program wants to remind the Twin Ports if you know of someone who is in need of housing- do not hesitate to refer them to the community outreach.
