Red Cross Launches ‘Pillowcase Project’

The Red Cross is implementing a new program for 3rd to 5th graders across the Northland.

The “Pillowcase Project” aims to teach students to be better prepared for disasters.

It also aims at helping students learn to be more resilient in their recovery if disaster were to strike, like flash floods, or severe winter storms.

“The big message is they get a big pillowcase that’s kind of decorated with Disney, and that’s going to be their emergency preparedness kit once they go home that night,” explained Morgan Sommers, with the Northland Chapter of the Red Cross.

Monday’s classes were held at Bryant Elementary School.
