Duluth Principal Recognized with State Award

A principal at a Duluth elementary school has been recognized with a state award.

Jennifer Larva, principal of Lowell Elementary School, was the recipient of the 2016 Minnesota Elementary School Principals’ Association Division Leadership Achievement Award.

The award honors principals whose exemplary leadership and sustained efforts have made noteworthy contributions to the operation of effective school programs- improving education, their communities and their profession.

Larva was recognized by colleagues statewide on February 4 at the MESPA Awards Banquet in Bloomington.

Larva was nominated for the award by Rae Villebrun, principal and superintendent of the Floodwood School District, on behalf of MESPA Northeast Division principals.

Larva summed up her educational philosophy with a Robert Collier quote saying “Success is the small efforts, repeated day in and out.”  She continued with her own outlook, saying “It is what we do every single day to foster positive relationships and engage students that makes a difference.”
