Deer River School Dist. Shows Off Phase 1
The Deer River School District was showing off Phase 1 of a multi-million dollar expansion project Monday.
King Elementary now has four new kindergarten classrooms and two tutoring rooms.
And by the fall of 2017, Phase 2 will include a senior and community center within the building.
“We’ve had interventionists working in the hallways, and we have just used every nook and cranny of King School,” explained Jennifer Stefan, principal of King Elementary.
“Our community and committee — that was really working hard on this — did a good job at reaching out. And it was a lot less about people coming to the school to find out what was going on, and a lot of people going out and talking about what was possible,” explained Matt Grose, superintendent of the Deer River School District.
Phase 2 will also include an early childhood addition, new cafeteria and a space for the Boys and Girls Club.
