Duluth City Councilors Vote On Trails and Parks

Many Of The Grants Would Come From DNR

There are several proposed parks and trail projects waiting for grants in Duluth.

Some of these include the Western waterfront trail restoration project, improving the Duluth Winnipeg Pacific and Cross city trail system, and building a 3.3 km Nordic ski center trail. Many of these grants are more than 100,000 dollars, some up to 250,000 dollars.

The grant for many of these projects would come from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

The city would match the grant with money coming from the 50/50 tourism tax. City councilors say the match does not come from money that could be allocated to streets or public safety.
