Hop A Ride In Canal Park

It Could Open As Early As May

A shuttle service in Canal Park may become a reality.

Hop-A-Ride is a mom and pop run shuttle company looking to start up in Duluth.

One of the owners, Brett Vawter, says he started thinking about the need for more transportation in Canal Park in 2013.

Since then,  he says he has been working with the city to start a shuttle service connecting Pier B to the slip bridge, so that those who don’t want to or can’t, won’t have to walk the half a mile distance between those two points.

“Walking is a pleasure when you choose it, and burden when it’s put upon you at the worst possible time, so a lot of people can and do walk down here, but there’s a lot of people who can’t,” said Vawter.

Vawter said he is optimistic and hopes to get the business running by May of this year.
