Sharing a Taste of Ramadan, Spreading Muslim Awareness
Students Sample Traditional Muslim Foods
Ramadan – it’s a Muslim holiday you may have heard of, but do you know what purpose it serves?
Ramadan is a month-long observance; it’s a month of fasting.
A display of foods at a table on UMD’s campus is a chance to see and taste what Muslims typically eat after a full day of fasting during Ramadan month.
The month is one of the holiest observances in the Muslim calendar.
“During this month, even people who don’t pray five times a day do their absolute best to try to get as much prayer in and as much reading the Quran as possible,” said Muslim Student Association member Mueez Ahmad.
This display is part of a week-long focus on Muslim awareness by students at UMD.
They want to educate any and all who may just be unaware of the customs and traditions of the Islamic faith.
