The Duluth Community Showers Shawn Burr’s Family With Support
Shawn Burr was diagnosed with grade three brain cancer at the age of 40. Several days after this interview Shawn lost his battle with cancer. The once happy go-lucky accountant will be missed by many. He leaves behind his wife and their two-year- old daughter, Addie.
Samantha was working as a hairdresser when she went out on a limb and tried out for a rock band. That’s where Samantha met her future husband and fellow rocker, Shawn.
“I love him and I will always love him,”Samantha said. The music hit a sour note last November when Shawn came home complaining of severe pain.
“It was two weeks before Thanksgiving, he came home with a really bad head ache and previous to that he had a blurry spot in his eye,”Samantha said.
After the initial ER visit Shawn’s health continued to rapidly declined. Many consults and doctor appointments later physicians concluded that Shawn had an inoperable brain tumor.
“It is fast growing and it scares a person to death it scares me as his wife to death. We wanted another child, we wanted to move into a new house. We had dreams,” Samantha said.
His wife now finds strength to move forward through the couple’s daughter, Addie. Shawn’s presence will continue to live on.
” Knowing that he won’t be here in physical form is the hardest part. I’m never getting rid of his memory,” Samantha said.
Saturday, you can show your support for the Burr Family at a spaghetti dinner. The dinner is part of a benefit that will be happening at Mr.D’s Bar and Grill in Duluth from 4pm-6pm. Tickets are $10 and all the proceeds do go to the family.
