UW-Superior Hosts “Speak Out Superior” in Support of Sexual Assault Awareness

The education forum raised awareness and started a discussion about sexual assault

The educational forum “Speak Out Superior” was held Monday night and was put together by the college, along with WITC and CASDA.

According to CASDA college students are a top priority for them and other organizations.

“It’s so important because a number of statistics say that the biggest population at risk is college students,” Amber Popplewell, sexual assault program coordinator.

The night began with Legal Studies students presenting poster boards on different sexual assault issues and continued with a survivor’s story.

The most important thing the campus wanted attendees to take away from the forum is that they aren’t alone.

“Your community is committed to this issue. We’re committed to perpetuate accountability. We’re committed to wrapping care around victims and survivors of sexual assault and that you’re not in this alone,” said Popplewell.

The program wrapped up with a screening of The Hunting Ground  and a panel discussion.
