North Shore Elementary Gets Unique History Lesson
Kids Take Step Back In Time
Fifth and six graders at North Shore Elementary took a trip back in time.
Their classroom headed outdoors, where the fifth graders took on the roles of an Ojibwe tribe, and the sixth graders became the North West Trading Company.
They spent the day working at their camps, just like the historical figures did.
“It’s important to know your roots, know where you came from and use the outdoor world to learn and experience culture and how hard it really was,” said teacher Angela Wood.
The kid’s duties included cooking rice, tanning hides and trading furs.
