Maple Grove Students Respond to Racist Graffiti

Messages of love greeted students Thursday morning

Students at a suburban Minneapolis high school were greeted with messages of love, Thursday, after racist graffiti was discovered in a bathroom.

When students walked into Maple Grove Senior High School, they were met with welcoming cheers and notes with messages such as “Love always wins.”

On Wednesday, students took to social media about racist graffiti that was found at their school, which included messages such as (hashtag) “(hash)whitesonly” and (hashtag) “(hash)gobacktoafrica.” Another area included a racial epithet.

In a statement, Principal Bart Becker said the racist messages “endanger the safety of our students and staff of color, and create a climate that is not conducive to learning.”

The district, as well as Maple Grove police are now investigating to determine who wrote the graffiti.
