‘Godfather’s Pizza Express’ Opens in Gary-New Duluth KornerStore
The fan-favorite pizza place makes its return to Duluth
DULUTH, Minn. — A favorite local pizza place made its return to Duluth Wednesday.
We’re talking about Godfather’s Pizza Express. FOX 21 was there as the first pizzas came out of the oven.
The new location is inside the Gary-New Duluth KornerStore.
Derek Medved, who owns the local convenience store company, announced in December it would be bringing back the iconic pizza business to the Twin Ports.
“I think the first bite will bring back a lot of memories,” Medved said. “Whether you visited the Duluth location, Superior, or whatever location you chose, we’re back.”
The menu will include take-and-bake and even a breakfast pizza.
Medved said he plans to expand Godfather’s Pizza Express to KornerStore locations in Duluth, Hermantown, Sturgeon Lake and Chisholm. He’s also considering opening a Godfather’s sit-down location in Duluth down the road.
