16th Annual ‘Continental Bike Swap’ Set For April 26-28
DULUTH, Minn. — If you’re looking to sell, donate or buy a bike, the 16th annual Continental Bike Swap is the place to be next weekend.
Continental Ski and Bike puts on the event every year at its store in Duluth.
This year’s even happens April 26-28.
The goal is to help Duluthians stay healthy and active.
The Bike Swap has grown from re-homing dozens of bikes the first year to more than 500 bikes last year, not to mention raising $12,000 for a local charity in the process.
Here’s how it works:
Thursday and Friday, people can drop off good-working bikes to sell or donate to the Bike Swap.
Money raised from donated bikes goes to this year’s charity, Duluth Devo Bike Program. The bikes that are put up for sale by owners will get a percentage, with the rest going to the charity.
As for Friday between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., you can get a sneak peek at all the bikes. Purchasing happens Saturday and Sunday.
The Bike Swap also helps keep bikes out of landfills.
FOX 21’s Dan Hanger will be emceeing all the fun on Saturday. A grill will be cooking up food, and Yellow Bike Coffee will be there with coffee, caramel rolls, and cinnamon rolls.
