New Healthcare Education Center Opens its Doors
SUPERIOR, Wis. — There’s a new opportunity for people to learn the ways of being a Certified Nursing Assistant.
The Workforce Training Insitute, a nonprofit organization, kicked off their CNA education course Monday morning. The nonprofit is located in the Dove Healthcare center in Superior. It covers a wide range of students. They achieve hands on learning, labs, and even clinicals. They’re welcoming anyone to these classes. Staff says it can be such a crucial experience for folks interested in the healthcare field.
“You know we’re starting them out right at the beginning. A lot of them go on to nursing careers. A lot of them go on to healthcare careers. And so, we get them right at the start. So that’s exciting for me.” said nurse educator Michele Anderson.
Over the past two years, the Insitute has graduated over 700 students to eventually become CNA’s. For students, like Yemaya, it’s making personal connections that really matter.
“I really like hanging out with residents. I think that’s the best part. It’s getting to know them, hearing their stories and what they did as a job. Anything like that. I think it’s very fun.” explained Yemaya David.
Their goal is to get increase the healthcare workforce to meet the demand of care. People as young as 15 can take these classes and quickly become CNA certified. The course costs $535 and includes all textbooks and printed materials. If you’re interested in more information on how to register, you can visit their website.
