Pediatrician Encourages Good Sleep Before School
DULUTH, Minn.–As summer is winding down, soon enough, kids will be hitting the books.
Being well rested before school translates to having a better mood. Which in return gives kids a better classroom performance.
Phasing out of late summer nights can be a challenging time for young ones.
Pediatrician Dr. Knutson says, forming a solid bedtime routine with children early on is especially important.
“Even in our house, I have three kids, we have a bedtime routine schedule we printed off and put on the wall.” explained Dr. Marit Knutson, a pediatrician at Essentia Health. “So, the kids can look at like ok, first we’re doing our snack, then we’re going upstairs. And, you know at this time we’re putting on jammies. So, it’s like very clear what the expectations are. Especially around the start of school when things are kind of exciting, and a little bit nervous and crazy.”
In addition, Dr. Knutson also recommends making sure your child has their routine checkup before the start of the school season as well.
