Nearly 40 Residents Displaced After Apartment Bldg. Fire
MOOSE LAKE, Minn.– Four days after a fire affected the West Hillside Manor Apartment building in Moose Lake, nearly 40 residents have been evacuated.
Hotels churches and shelters are stepping up to aid them during this difficult time.
“It was midnight, all of a sudden fire strobe lights were going off and I flew out of bed. And went and found the source of the fire, opened the door, and it was completely gray smoke, gray smoke. So, I shut the door, and I just started banging on doors ‘Get your medicine and get out, there’s a fire!'” recalled Heather Zinter, a resident.
One of the residents of Hillside Manor West shared her experience with the frightening fire that occurred early Friday morning.
Her bravery played a part in what resulted in zero injuries, and zero deaths with this incident.
In the meantime, contracting crews, and electricians are working around the clock to repair everything.
“Chaotic, is probably the first word, but at the same time, just impressive. The amount of collaboration and communication amongst the city and the HRA and the Red Cross have just been top tier, and I just can’t express my gratitude enough for all of this. Because if I was alone, we’d be in a different situation entirely,” said Alexandra Keller, Office Manager Moose Lake HRA.
At this time, we’re still waiting on how people can help out the residents through donations.
