Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Holds Reopening of Nursing Facilities
CLOQUET, Minn. — Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College held its grand reopening of its nursing facilities after
an extensive renovation on Aug. 13, this coming just in time for students to return to school this Fall.
While other schools continue to see enrollment dropping, Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College is welcoming an even larger crop of current and prospective nursing students to a completely revamped program for the Fall 2025 semester.
“As we officially open this space today, we open the door to new possibilities, possibilities for innovation, possibilities for growth, and possibilities for expanded academic and practice partnerships.” said Dr. Jessica Huber, the school’s dean of nursing and health sciences.
Despite the looming deadline of full classrooms and a full campus, everything is just about in place for the program to hit the ground running with all new equipment and technology.
“We converted a classroom into a new, renovated simulation and lab space, so state of the art equipment, high fidelity mannequins are in that space now, really what you would see in practice.” said Dr. Huber. “This room that I’m standing in right now, has also been renovated, so you can see behind me that we have a curtain that really helps replicate homecare environments, knowing that our patients not only need care, acute care like hospital settings, but also that we want to students to be able to practice in different environments where all patients may be.”
With the program boasting a self described “95% success rate”” when it comes to placing graduates in nursing related fields, it’s been a focus of the school to make sure their students are ready for work as soon as “Pomp and Circumstance” finishes.
“We just really want to provide as much experience and exposure as what they would be getting in real world settings, and that goes to just diverse simulation, more hands-on lab, more space that they would be able to practice these skills to just build that confidence and experience as they’re going into the workforce.” said Dr. Huber.
The school plans to continue improving the program over the coming years, and still has a couple openings this coming semester for those interested in exploring the field of nursing, and more information can be found on the college’s website.
