Boil water notice for parts of Duluth’s upper Lakeside neighborhood
UPDATE: Test results confirm that no biological or bacterial contamination has entered the water system and that the drinking water remains safe to consume. The precautionary boil water notice is ended effective immediately.
DULUTH, Min. – Residents between 43rd Avenue E to 54th Avenue E, from Norwood Street up to Skyline are under a boil water notice.
During the evening of August 19, 2025 while performing reservoir tank maintenance, water levels dropped unexpectedly low.
Some residents in upper lakeside experienced low or no water pressure.
The City believes the water supply in that reservoir has no safety issues, but residents are asked to boil drinking water until further notice.
The City of Duluth is performing necessary tests to confirm the safety of the water for drinking in that area.
Test results are expected on Friday morning.
In that area, drinking water should be boiled before consuming.
All drinking/cooking water should have a rolling boil for one minute or longer.
Then let it cool before using, or use bottled water.
Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, and food preparation until further notice.
Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in water.
Tap water in the affected area can be used for all non-consumption reasons such as showering, bathing and laundry.
