Wisconsin Department of Health Services Encourages Vaccination
WISCONSIN. — The Wisconsin Department of Health Services is emphasizing the importance of vaccines against respiratory viruses.
Influenza, RSV and COVID-19 typically see uptakes as the fall and winter seasons approach.
The Wisconsin DHS says vaccination is crucial for preventing severe illnesses and hospitalizations.
People are encouraged to receive vaccinations to protect oneself and others, especially high-risk populations.
As the peak flu season is around the corner, now is the best time to receive your vaccines.
“As of today, respiratory viruses remain low statewide, which is why now is the best time to get vaccinated. It can take up to two weeks for vaccine to offer full protection from these viruses. Getting vaccinated before respiratory activity peaks or is on a very high acceleration rate will help provide you and your family and provide you with the best protection,” Tom Haupt, WI DHS Respiratory Disease Epidemiologist said.
The COVID-19 vaccine is now available for everyone six months and older. Getting an updated COVID-19 vaccine is encouraged as new strains develop.
