Local officials talk about Donald Trump being the likely Republican nominee
Donald trump is the presumptive Republican presidential nominee following a victory in the Indiana primary and with Ted Cruz and John Kasich dropping out of the race.
Although, Trump has not formally secured the 1,237 delegates he needs to win the nomination, and likely won’t until June, there is no serious opposition left to block his path.
His victory amounts to a stunning takeover because he is a candidate with no political experience.
Joel Sipress, UWS Professor of History, said “This is a huge development in American politics because it is unusual for this kind of outsider to secure a party nomination.”
Bernie Sanders won the Indiana Democratic primary.
