Woodland Hills Academy Could Become A Charter School

Woodland Hills Academy now has the prospects of becoming a charter school. The academy’s current building is more than 100 years old and would cost between $3 to $4 million to repair. Theses costs have been a source of concern for the Duluth School District since 2014.

Woodland Hills Academy decided it was best to move forward with the initial steps of becoming a charter school, and as Woodland Hills CEO Jeff Bradt told us, his school addresses a specific need in the community.

“Almost 100 have had significant childhood trauma or they have a mental illness,” Bradt said.

The school will get the final answer on possible funding from the state sometime around Aug. 1.
