Locals Bond over International Cuisine

Spring rolls and chicken curry were just a few dishes bringing community members together.

The UWS’s World Student Association kicked off their International Cooking Demonstration event.

Up to 13 dishes including entrees, sides and deserts were served in an effort to make a connection between international and American students along with the community.

“There’s a quote from Julia Child where she says that the people who love food are the best people,” World Student Association secretary Richie Somanathan said. “So people who love food will love the country that’s what we are going for. If you like a food you will want to know what it’s coming from. You want to know the people.”

Russia, Somalia and Japan were just a few of the countries the recipes came from.
