Limited School Space at Marengo Valley Causes Concern

Increasing Number of Students, Need for School Space

Marengo Valley is seeing an increasing number of students with a limited amount of space at its current school.

Educators are looking into creative teaching methods to try and solve the problem.

A portable classroom was brought up at the most recent Board of Education meeting, but members say adding an extra classroom will be more affordable.

Other options include a referendum or mixed age classrooms.

But one thing they know is the need to expand and quick.

“They use the gym right now for gym, a cafeteria, choir, art and that’s not even to speak about the classrooms,” said School Board President, Pat Nemec.

The board will discuss more feasible options at their next meeting on April 19.
