New Year New You

DULUTH, Minn. — The holidays are over, and all those parties and plates of cookies are in the rearview mirror.

Those with resolutions for the new year are sixteen days into 2024.

Many people looking for added motivation were making their way into All-Star Nutrition in Duluth, Tuesday.

Everyone had their own goals and benchmarks for reshaping themselves a bit in the new year. Some were checking out the in-body scale, others were looking for protein powder or vitamins.

Whether it’s to just eat healthier, lose a few pounds or add a little punch to the biceps, the store specializes in figuring out where their customer’s body is at, and how to get it where they want it to be.

General Manager, Colin Emerson, said it’s early in the new year and people are motivated.

“We do see a lot more people come in with a lot of different goals. Some being build muscle, some being cut down, losing weight,” said Emerson.

“It’s definitely a huge variety of what we see, but the uptake in people’s goals is huge and we see a lot more people with the drive of getting their goals. So that’s our favorite thing here to do is help people stay accountable, get them to where they want to be,” said Emerson.

And when it comes to making changes, who doesn’t like a little incentive? So, for every pound of muscle gained, or every percent of body fat lost, people earn in-store credit, and the store also makes a donation to CHUM.

Emerson said his best advice to everyone is to start slow. For example, start by looking at what you’re having for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and then slowly build off of that.

Emerson also said to cut yourself some slack. He likes the 80-20 rule. Stay on your game Monday through Friday, but cheating a bit on the weekend won’t stop your progress.
