Garage Sale With No Price Tags–For a Good Cause
In Carlton tables of donated goods will raise money for scholarships and more.
Who doesn’t like a garage sale? Especially if it’s for a good cause– and there are no price tags!
That’s the deal in Carlton at the Four Seasons Sports Complex. Tables are filled with toys, kitchen items, books– you name it.
It’s put on and organized by volunteers– literally and officially. The Volunteers Services Organization does it every year.
It helps raise funds for staff and programs at Community Memorial Hospital as well as support careers in health care.
It also challenges your conscience. You decide what something is worth.
“[It’s] available to everybody and for just a donation. They can give whatever amount,” said Rosemary Tobin, with the Volunteer Services Organization.
“And all the donations that we receive go towards our scholarship fund. So, in June we will be giving out scholarships to high school students who are going into health care. So, we have that money then that we can use to continue their education,” said Tobin.
She says even with no price tag, people often give more than an item is worth because they know it’s going to a good cause.
They hope to raise between $5,000 and $6,000, and the garage sale runs through Friday.
