Aspirus St. Luke’s holds ribbon cutting for new expansion
DULUTH, Minn. — Aspirus St. Luke’s held a ribbon cutting on Thursday, Jan. 16, to celebrate their new 83 thousand square foot cardiac and intensive care units. The new expansion will allow for more quality and efficient inpatient care.
“The new spaces will create an even better experience for our patients and their families, with more centralized services and a healing environment,” said Dr. Nick Van Deelen, Minnesota region president of Aspirus St. Luke’s.
This initiative aims to improve the experiences of not only the patients, but the staff as well. Many staff members even helped to maximize use of the new space.
“This new unit really allows us to care for more critically ill patients using the most advanced technology available,” said Dr. Trina Hollatz, Aspirus St Luke’s ICU medical director and pulmonologist. “We’re really excited to be able to offer this space to our community. We’ve talked about the community, but our nurses were helpful in the design process to really maximize workflow and enhance patient care.”
The completion of this project marks the end of phase two of their “health forward” patient care and efficiency initiative.
