Piedmont Dental Hosts Kathy Andrews Memorial Blood Drive

DULUTH, Minn. — Piedmont Dental hosted a winter blood drive Monday, honoring an employee who passed away from cancer.

The Kathy Andrews Memorial Blood Drive started in 2020 after front desk supervisor Kathy was diagnosed with Leukemia and under went multiple blood transfusions.

Since then Piedmont Dental holds an annual blood drive for employees, patients and other community members.

The drive is also held in the summer, with the bi-annual winter drive being added this year.

Staff at Piedmont Dental say the drive is a great way to give back to the community and to honor Kathy.

“Kathy was a special person. Obviously she worked here for a really long time, but she was kind of the face of our office and had a very warm presence. So she’s definitely missed around here and we’re happy to kind of continue her legacy in this way,” said Dr. Megan Ecker at Piedmont Dental.

The drive sees around 20 to 30 donors a day, providing blood to people in need.
