Duluth YMCA Hosts Family Olympics

Local Athletes Inspire Families

With the Olympics in full swing, the family YMCA in Duluth is helping young people get in on the action.

Wednesday they hosted the family Olympics, where families could participate in a variety of games, from swimming races and diving practice, to track and field, as well as gymnastics.

“Kids get to see Simone Biles win her gold and bronze on the Olympic floor in Rio, and then they can come down here and try it out on a smaller beam that’s their size, and see some of the awesome Duluth athletes we have in our city,” said Emily Ranta with the YMCA.

Local athletes from the YMCA were on hand to teach the kids and showcase some of their skills.
