UMD Receives Equity and Diversity Transformation Awards

The U of M awarded two awards to UMD

The University of Minnesota has awarded two Equity & Diversity Transformation Awards to the University of Minnesota Duluth.

The focus for the 2016 Equity & Diversity Transformation Awards is building capacity of institutional change through the use of strategic partnerships.

The Department of Foreign Languages and Literature’s and the Department of Art and Design received an award for their Equity and Diversity in Latin America and Sapin: Art, Lecture, and Film Series.

The event will take place in spring 2017 and will create a partnership between faculty that research and teach in areas of equity and diversity in Hispanic and Latin American studies. It will include an art exhibition, five scholarly presentations by UMD faculty, and the presentation, showing and discussion of two films at the Zinema in Downtown Duluth.

The second award was given to Supporting Students of Color/International Students and Enhancing Cultural Diversity and Inclusivity: A Collaborative Project, which was established by UMD’s Employees of Color Mentoring Program. The project is a series of activities which seeks to connect international students and students of color to employees of color.
