St. Louis County Celebrates Achievements in Public Health
DULUTH, Minn — Four individuals were recognized for their work in public health by St. Louis County today.
Dr. Jan Baldwin, Christina Trok, Mel Alvar, and Nathan Kesti were each given a Public Health Achievement Award.
Each has shown leadership and commitment as they worked to address a variety of public health concerns.
Those include perinatal substance use, birth equity, human trafficking and homelessness.
“These four recipients are just, really, just a great representation of what this award means. They’re all leaders. They all work at both the community level and or the systems level or the individual So, improving health for individuals, but also working with community partners in collaboration, to work in coordination, right, not just for individuals, but for our greater county as well.” said Amy Westbrook the Public Health Division Director for St. Louis County.
These awards are held annually as part of National Public Health Week.
The recipients were chosen based on their public health contribution, leadership, advocacy, community health improvement, and collaboration.
