‘Lola Farms’ Opens up Honeyberry Fields

WRENSHALL, Minn.–When it comes to owning a farm, it leads to a ton of passion ideas. Such as raising chickens and eventually expanding into an ‘AirB-n-Bawk’.

And right now, it’s full steam ahead for Farm Lola with all things honey berry.

They’re showcasing rows upon rows of ripe berries ready to be picked.

But with this special fruit, there’s more than what meets the eye.

“We have 14 varieties on the farm, and of those 14, we’re picking four right now, and things are going really quick,” said Jason Amundsen, farmer at ‘Lola Farms’. “And every row is a different taste. So, some are tart, some are sweet, and some are sour. And you can use a honey berry like anything else, pies, jams, scones, baked goods, oatmeal, you know, whatever it is. It’s a favorite with pancakes and syrup, and they freeze really well. And they’re a naturally soft fruit.”

Farm Lola farmers planted the berries back in 2016.

But they’ve been dishing out the honey berries since 2019. And alongside the fruit, they’ve also grown quite the following.

“It’s been really fun. We see returning people, we see new people, and then we do this thing called the rainbow challenge, which is kind of silly, where every variety tastes different, so we always have people sample before they pick. But what we’ve done, what we’ve been doing lately, is we’re having people take one variety from each of the bowls, putting them all in their mouth at the same time, and that flavor profile is so distinct. It’s so unique. It’s unlike anywhere else,” beamed Amundsen.

As for when picking comes to an end, weather is always unpredictable.

Amundsen told FOX 21 to try and visit within the next 2-3 weeks.
