Third Annual Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance Shop and Social at Maurices

DULUTH, Minn. – Ovarian cancer survivors and their loved ones were treated to a shopping spree at no cost in Maurice’s sample room in downtown Duluth as part of their 3RD annual shop and social.

Kristine Greer, a survivor of ovarian cancer and board member with the Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance, says it’s all about connecting with others who have faced or are facing similar journeys.

“Survivors are gathering together for a wonderful and very touching event,” said Greer. “We are shopping and we are having fun, and then we will gather together for some conversation and snacks.”

Maurice’s employees helped everyone pick out outfits and offered styling tips at the “shop and social” event, making sure everyone felt seen, supported, and truly special.

“It just makes you feel like you’re having a special day because when you are going through cancer treatment, cancer in general isn’t always very pleasant and sometimes your special day ends up being chemo days or something, but this is truly a special day,” said Lorrie Fox, ovarian cancer survivor.

While picking out free clothes is something nobody would pass up, Greer says it’s a time to forget about the past or current worries while building a stronger community of support with women with ovarian cancer.

“This means so much to survivors, especially for the women going through treatment,” said Greer. “You know life can be hard, and to gather together for a wonderful, fun event like this, it’s wonderful, it’s just a great, great time.”
