Victim Speaks Out After Enduring Random Stabbing Attack

DULUTH, Minn.– Tasha Hoskins of Duluth says, she was casually strolling the streets between Central and Grand Avenue on the night of September 1st.

When out of nowhere, she was randomly attacked. She claims she was approached by 37-year-old Tasha Carlson of Duluth.

The pair had no prior connections before the incident.

“She drops the bike right by the trash thing, and she jumped off and says, ‘I’m going to stab you’. And I’m like, ‘What the <expletive>!’, She tries to stab me right here, and she missed. And didn’t have enough force to even break through my sweater or nothing,” recalled Hoskins.

In a quick act of self-defense, Hoskins said, she quickly put the defendant in a headlock.

“I just was like that, which kind of helps her stab my leg. And I was freaking out, ‘what the <expletive>’ I made sure it wasn’t extremely bleeding. Otherwise, I’d bleed on what one to two minutes?” said Hoskins.

Shortly after the attack, Hoskins claims Carlson left the area.

“She starts walking off with the bike and knife in hand through traffic through all of this,” mentioned Hoskins.

Eventually, Hoskins made her way over to the nearby ‘Circle K’ gas station for assistance.

Carlson was quickly detained following the altercation.

Hoskins said she thinks Carlson was going through a mental health crisis and is pulling for her.

“I’d rather be for her than against her. I will fight for any person with mental health issues. I grew up with it. I mean, come on, my grandmother had it,” stated Hoskins.

And despite being involved in a scary situation, Hoskins says, she considers West Duluth home.

Being raised in the area, she told FOX 21 she fond memories of the park that will outweigh this experience.
