Essentia Health Mammogram Trucks Seeing Trend of Success

CLOQUET, Minn.– October is known as breast cancer awareness month.

And Essentia Health has been bringing opportunities for testing in rural communities.

For the past three years, Essentia health has introduced a fleet of trucks traveling to rural and tribal areas.

It began with three locations, but now they have over twenty stops.

Thursday alone, Cloquet’s stop was booked up with patients to get their screenings.

The vice president of radiology services at Essentia told FOX 21 this has been a game changer for rural healthcare.

“Traveling for everybody is not always an easy option. And so, by getting some of these services and care delivery in our rural communities is really key, and again, it helps them get that early detection with services close to home,” said Jill Singwald, Vice President Radiology Essentia Health.

As for scheduling your own mammogram appointment it is recommended you bring it up during an annual visit.

But to see if the truck is stopping near your town, you can visit the Essentia website to see where it’s heading.
