’12 Hours of Giving’ Blood Drive nearing Twin Ports debut
DULUTH, Minn. — In continuing with Fox 21’s partnership with the Red Cross’ 12 Hours of Giving Blood Drive, Fox 21 is taking the weeks leading up to the event to tell the stories of those
whose lives have been affected for the better through blood donation.
The event itself will be Dec. 18. and 19, at The Garden Event Center in Canal Park.
All donors will receive a long sleeve shirt and be eligible to win prizes throughout the event, with live music and entertainment as well.
The need for blood is always present, and you never know when an emergency will happen to you or someone you love,
“I can’t donate after what I’ve been through, the doctors have said that, but to support and encourage and be grateful for (my wife) Julie, and (daughter) Lauren, and others that do,” said Joe Schreder, an Acute Myeloid Leukemia survivor who, like many in his position, relied on donated blood while fighting the illness. “My two adult sons, even prior to my diagnosis, have been donating blood and to help spread the word.”
“I don’t know if I’d be sitting here today if it wasn’t for donors,” said Schreder
