LCP Lineman in Stable Condition After Electrical Contact on the Job

GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. – A Lake Country Power lineman is in stable condition after he made electrical contact yesterday around 5:30 p.m.
The incident happened while crews were working in the Grand Rapids area to restore power. More than 4,800 Lake Country Power members were without power, as winds were gusting upwards of 60 mph.
Upon contact, John Devries’ partner immediately called 911, and Devries was brought by ambulance to Grand Itasca Hospital, from there he was airlifted to Essential Health in Duluth for burn treatment.
Lake Country Power is currently assessing the accident.
Line crews are continuing to work and restore 11 separate power outages, primarily in the Mountain Iron and Kettle River areas. Outages are due to tress and limbs falling onto power lines.
