Diocese Ordain Eleventh Bishop Of Superior

Most Rev. James P. Power was named bishop of the diocese in December

On Thursday James P. Powers was ordained as the eleventh Bishop of Superior.

Powers was a priest for the diocese for 25 years before receiving the honor in December. The honor came as no surprise to those who work with Powers.

“He’s a fantastic person, he is a kind gentle man, he will be a wonderful leader for our church. I’m just really excited to have him here,” said Jessica Poskozim.

The ordination happened at Cathedral of Christ the King.

It included a showing and reading of the letter of appointment from Pope Francis. The new bishop was seated in his cathedral symbolizing the start of his teaching authority in the diocese.
