Local Groups Come Together to Support Obamacare
Fear Many Will Lose Insurance if ACA Replaced
DULUTH, Minn.-Some local doctors and politicians came together today to express their dismay over the possibility of repealing the Affordable Care Act.
The Northland HealthCare Alliance, headed up the event, with the goal of making the community aware of what a repeal of the ACA would mean.
One Duluth City Council also expressed concern, believing many Northlanders would lose health insurance, if President Donald Trump’s healthcare plan moves forward.
“What that means right here in Duluth is we would have thousands of people in this community, our friends, family members, who would be without health insurance if this legislation is passed,” said Joel Sipress, Duluth City Council President.
One of the Alliance’s main goals has always been to universal healthcare. It disbanded after the Obamacare Bill was passed in 2010 – now they are coming together again.
“Such an appeal will lead to the degradation in the care currently provided to Americans,” said Dr. David Sproat of the Northland’s Healthcare Alliance. “Our Alliance supports a policy of universal healthcare affordable to all.”
Officials at the event today argued that 24 million would lose health insurance if the ACA was replaced.
