Essentia Promotes Healthy Life Style

Eating Healthy And Getting Outside

Duluth, Minn.

Healthy food free bike helmets and lots of fun activities were on hand today at the Heritage Center.

It was Essentia Health’s way of promoting a healthy life style and keeping kids active during the summer.

“We’re committed to a healthy community and giving back to the community and this is one way that we’re able to do that,” said Ronald Alston, Vice President of Community Health and Fitness at Essentia Health.

With so many things to do.

“Go out bike riding or hiking or just playing outside,” LeMay says.

In one of the most active cities in America.

“A very vibrant environment to be able to pollinate outdoor activities among all sorts of communities within Duluth,” Alston says.

Having to deal with technology.

“We didn’t have as many things to do when we were growing up. There’s so many things to do from a technology standpoint,” Alston says.

For a mom of two it’s important to start them early

“Good role model as a parent, show them that’s it’s important to get out and be active, stay healthy to prolonging life,” Mom, Samantha LeMay says.

Even if it mean eating the green stuff that kids sometimes push to the sides.

“Good eating habits from the start. It’s so important to prolong that healthy eating habit as an adult.”LeMay says.

For companies like Essentia Health and others, if we provide opportunities, we are all role models for the younger generations.

“For environments and opportunities lake what we have today it’s a testament that you know what if we continue to do things of this nature, maybe we can get people out a little bit more,” Alston says.
