Proctor New Liquor Ordinance

Proctor City Council passed the new liquor ordinance on January 4th,  offering new possibilities for craft breweries.

The Proctor downtown district now has four vacant buildings and Proctor leaders are confident  one of these will soon be home to a brewery.

The off sale of growlers full of beer is another topic addressed by the new regulations.

Brewing up suds is not a cheap hobby what-so-ever. Co-Owner of Derailed Bar and Grill, Nicholas Greenwood was one of two men who came forward with concerns to City Councilors.

Greenwood has his own beer fermenting equipment and is looking forward to the day he can get involved with the craft brewing industry.

Greenwood said,”I have purchased the commercial equipment I have the complete set–up for doing a craft brewery. I have not purchased land or a building to set that up in, yet.”

Laying down the frame work of this dream can cost any where from $75,000 to $100,000 .

Greenwood continued,”Breweries are kind of popular and popping up everywhere they are kind of in and it’s good to see them be ahead of times.”

Currently as the law stands customers can not take growlers off site but many hope that will soon change as well.
